Q150 Celebrates Film Across the State
The Q150 Film Festival got underway in September, starting at Bowen, the first of nine communities across Queensland to host the event. The film festival will also visit Weipa, Normanton, Biloela, Roma, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Brisbane.
Each town will host a two-night Q150 Film Festival presented by Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast. The festival will screen films made in Queensland or by Queenslanders, including Oscar-winning Happy Feet, Nim’s Island filmed in North Queensland and 48 Shades, produced and made in Brisbane and based on Nick Earls’ book. As well as the screenings, there is a Festival Workshop program with specially designed, hands-on activities aimed at building film appreciation through exciting and unique moviemaking experiences. While Warner Bros. Movie World will bring some red-carpet movie magic from the Theme Park to the events, PFTC has also lent support by co-coordinating some of the logistics and directing the films programming. The Q150 Film Festival ends in December 2009.
